How to Lose 5 Pounds Before Your First Date

 

 

The one great thing about online dating is that you never have to leave your apartment. But it comes at a cost…Maybe you’ve developed couch sores or a little belly.

Before you can say “Swipe Right” you’ve scored yourself a sexy date for the next week. That’s when you realize you also don’t fit the “slim/fit body type description from your profile.

I must give a little disclaimer. Here at TopRomp, we don’t believe that being skinny equates to beauty, nor do we condone crash dieting. All body types are beautiful. This is simply about feeling and looking good from the inside out. But to attract the best out there, YOU must be your own personal best. And FYI, we are not health professionals, so take this with a grain of salt.

So, when you’ve only got a week before your first date and you feel bloated, lethargic, and downright unsexy, follow these 5 rules on how to slim down and look super hot before your first date!

 

1. Cardio, Cardio, Cardio

 

Whatever your cardio of choice is: Running, Kickboxing, Spinning, Babysitting, make sure you do a form of it every single day. The key is to work hard enough to break a sweat and get your heart rate up for a minimum of 30-45 minutes. With those pumping endorphins you’ll be full of boundless energy, your skin will be glowing, and your jeans may actually be looser within a week’s time.

2. Avoid Alcohol

 

You can also add to this rule: Avoid any and ALL empty calories PERIOD. During this week you have NO need to drink any caloric beverages. They offer absolutely no nutritional value, and water is all your body needs to function. It may be difficult, but just wait and see how much better you feel at the week’s end without all that nasty high fructose corn syrup, caffeine, carbs, and hangovers.

3. Eat your Fats

 

Good fats that is. We aren’t stuck in the 90’s anymore, kids. Nowadays we know that fat is actually good for us because it keeps us full longer and our blood sugar in check (no 3pm crash!) Ditch the processed garbage and enjoy real whole foods such as avocados, eggs, olive oil, wild salmon, nuts, and all-natural nut butters. You will feel oh so amazing, and will be strutting your stuff in no time.

4. Bye, Bye Sodium

 

While sodium doesn’t contain any actual calories or fat, it causes you to retain water, which is a BIG No Bueno. Just think about the last time you had a pig-out feast on pizza, wings, and ribs. If you looked in the mirror, right after you probably noticed that your face was extra puffy and your muffin top poppin! So remember to keep your sodium at a relative low during this week. Your skin AND your skinny jeans will thank you!

5. Drink Your Broth

 

Anyone who is Paleo obsessed or into health trends has probably heard about the whole bone broth craze. This is not your mom’s chicken soup, nor is it the normal broth you have when you’re sick. Bone Broth is made from bones and simmered for an exceptionally long time. The result is a rich and almost buttery tasting flavor, like nothing you’ve ever tasted before. I guarantee that it will fill you up due to those healthy fats we talked about. It’s also super high in gelatin which is great for your skin (think collagen facial!) It’s easy and affordable to make your own, and if you live in NYC and are domestically challenged like me, you can grab some at the famous Brodo in the East Village. Their flavors include Hearth, Organic Chicken, and Gingered Grass-Fed Beef.  I never support diet fads and this is not one of them. Try it and it may become part of your own lifestyle!
